The Congo Experience • L'expérience du Congo

Told through village fire-side stories and lived experience, this book unveils the silent and often forgotten history of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Blending personal memory, oral traditions, and firsthand testimonies with historical and postcolonial analysis, it reveals how colonialism reshaped Congolese land, culture, and minds long after independence.

Through the voices of elders, revealing symbols like the

chipoyo

, and stories of dispossession, shame, and resistance, this book examines the visible and invisible chains that continue to shape daily life. It is not only a tale of suffering but also a tribute to survival, dignity, and hope.

More than a history book, it is an invitation to listen deeply, to question inherited narratives, and to understand decolonization as a process of healing the mind and identity.
